Ron Harris

Ron Harris was born July 24th, 1954. Birth place Waukegan, IL, 45 miles north of Chicago. A child of age 3, started drawing with pencils & crayons. The subject of everyday scenes of traffic on the boulevard, farm lands, of trains, boats and planes.

In October 1982 he moved from Illinois to Southern California settling finally in Long Beach.

After graduating from Southern California Regional Occupational Center in 1996 (with two certificates "Most Improved Artist 1996" and "Graphic Designer Jr." he joined Long Beach Arts in 1997.

He was showing art at Sacred Grounds (San Pedro), Southwest Collage (Los Angeles), Angel's Gate, 2nd City Council Gallery and Hellada Gallery.

The art is influenced by the music he listens to. Almost any kind from Classic Soul to Classical music, to Jazz, Latin, Reggae, Acid Rock, Funk, and even Classic Country and Western.

Another influence is a single word, or an expression like talking big. An imagination can take wings like that! To flight on the painting canvas. So can the words "Love", "Hate", "Idiot", "Faith", and many other words as well. The mind is awesome in creating.

Colors come to mind as well. Being able to "Breathe" color into his art, whether the art colors are cutting edge "or" contemporary - is matched by how descriptive the colors are.

They match the "smell" (like varying greens from a forest in color) or passion (red, orange, yellow), hot" colors" feelings of depth.

The art is mostly done by brush, or combined with graphic ink to tell the story.
